Bubblin 1.0 Documentation

Introduction

What is a bubble? A bubble in the context of Bubbl’in is a temporary zone allowing you and your friends to share your locations. Bubbles have a short life time and may be protected using a pass code.

As you enter Bubbl’in you can either create a bubble or subscribe to one of your friend’s bubbles.

Main Screen

Using “Edit” enables you to delete your bubbles and to unsubscribe from your friends’ bubbles. Beside its name, each bubble publishes the number of persons registered to the bubble. Using the 3 buttons at the bottom of the screen allows you to navigate through the different sections, namely “Own bubbles”, “Subscribed Bubbles” and “Burst bubbles”.

Burst Bubbles

Bubbles have a short life span. It bursts as soon as its creator leaves the bubble or if he decides to kill it. Moreover, if no activity has been seen in the bubble for more than 8 hours it bursts automaticaly. Each one of your friends registered to the burst bubble will be notified. They will see the burst bubble moving from the “subscribed bubble” list down to the “burst” list. A burst bubble counter is shown on the main screen. The “burst” list is cleaned each time you relaunch Bubbl’in.

Create a bubble

Creating a bubble is as easy as 1,2,3. You click on the “create a bubble” button. Ripple Motion’s servers will provide you with a list of 5 names for your bubble. If you are not happy with the proposed list, you can ask for another one. You pick the name you like and if you want, now is the time to protect your bubble using a PIN code. Click “Done” and you’r done.

If you choose not to protect your bubble, then anybody knowing the name of your bubble can register and get access to your bubble. You still have the ability to banish a user from your bubble if you wish to do so.

Subscribe to a bubble

As your friends send you their bubble information, you just need to enter the bubble name after choosing “Subscribe to a bubble”. Enter the PIN code if any. Click “Done” and you’re in.

Invite your friends

One you are in a bubble, you can invite your friends to join. You don’t need to be the creator of the bubble to invite someone in the bubble (friends of my friends are my friends !!). Click on the “people” icon and choose the way you’d like to invite your friends. You can mail the bubble info to your friends. If they open your mail with their iPhone, they can register to your bubble in just a click.

Enter a bubble

If you want to see the content of a bubble, you just have to click on its name. You will then see a map showing your location as well as each one of your friends’ positions.

Map span

By default, the map shows the complete content of the bubble and it constantly adapts to encompass locations of all your friends. You may want to zoom on a certain area of the map. If you do so, the auto span turns off. If you want to go back to “auto span”, you just need to click on the “Auto ON” button.

LIVE indicator

The “LIVE” indicator is always displayed on the map. It shows whether or not Bubbl’in can communicate with its servers. If yes, the the “LIVE” indicator blinks green and if not, it blinks grey. The indicator is blinking to ease the readability over the map labels.

GPS indicator

The “GPS” indicator is always displayed on the map. It shows the precision of your location. If the indicator blinks green, your location is known precisely. If it’s grey, it means your position is more or less correctly known. If it blinks yellow, your location is evaluated more that known. If it is red, then you are not localized. The indicator is blinking to ease the readability over the map labels.

Leave a bubble

To leave a bubble, you can either use the “Edit” mode in the main screen and “Delete” the bubble or use the “Trash” button on the map screen. If you created the bubble, then leaving the bubble will make it burst. Each member of the bubble will be notified.
